IN EVERY CASE, DO NOT USE THE TAXI COMPANY YALTA. THEY ARE HIGHLY FAMOUS FOR THEIR CORRUPTION AND WILL TRY TO
TAKE YOU TO CREEPY HOTELS FROM WHICH THEY RECEIVE A BRIBE, NOT CARING A SECOND ABOUT YOUR COMFORT AND SAFETY.
WE PERSONALLY SUPPORT A CLEANER MEXICO. HELP US IF YOU AGREE AND DO NOT PARTICIPATE TO ANY CORRUPTION. THANK YOU.
COMING BY TRAIN
That is the easiest one since we are right across the small street facing the arrivals area. A 15 meters walk !
COMING BY BUS
If you arrive at the main bus station from other large cities, you can either :
- catch a taxi for about 70 pesos to the hostel. Tell the driver you want to go to the Chepe train station.
By the way, we do not like corruption so we do not give any commission to the taxi driver, so they hate us :-)
- Catch a bus, which costs only 5 pesos. It is called "Circunvalacion 2", and
will take you in about 20 minutes to the "20 de noviembre" street. Ask to get off at the "Peni vieja" which looks like a big castle.
Cross the 20th of november, take either the street 22 or 24, walk for 2 blocks. You will see the train station and the hostel.
If you arrive by bus from Creel, with the company Noroeste, they can drop you very close to the train station, at a church called "Sagrado Corazon".
There is a gas station at the back of the church. It is easy to ask your way from there to the Chepe train station, which is only 2 blocks away.
COMING BY CAR
This is one is a bit more complicated. Ak for the "20 de noviembre". Once you are on this street, ask for the "Peni vieja", then the Chepe train station.
We do not have any private parking but the area is reasonably safe. Meaning 99% chances are that nothing would happen to your car, I leave the other 1% to the small evils you can find in any city
WALKING FROM THE CATHEDRAL
Super easy. Take the Victoria street which goes on the left side of the cathedral, until the Ocampo. Then walk on the Ocampo for about 2 km,
till the gas station at the back of the Sagrado Corazon church at the corner of Ocampo and 20 de noviembre. Then ask your way to the "Peni vieja", and the "Chepe train station".
If you have heavy backpacks, you can catch a bus for 5 pesos on the Ocampo and Victoria street, which will take you to the Sagrado Corazon in 2 minutes.
That easy !
COMING BY PLANE
- The easy way : a private taxi would cost you about 180 pesos (Again, we do not advise the Yalta taxi company), a shared taxi would cost about 100 pesos.
- A longer way : there is a specific shuttle to the Quality Inn in the center of the city for 55 pesos per person living about every hour during day hours only.
Then take another taxi or a bus (see our section "by bus") from the Ocampo street very close. By night, I would take a taxi. It should cost about 40 pesos.
